- Sue Robinson, Chief Executive of the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA)

Automotive Management Live 2023 is co-hosted by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA), which represents franchised car and commercial vehicle retailers in the UK.

NFDA’s main activities include lobbying Government and manufacturers on behalf of its members and dealing with a number of issues that impact franchised dealers on a day to day basis.

We are delighted to work again in partnership with AM to bring you AM Live 2023.

NFDA continues to be heavily involved in representing franchised dealer in the shaping of vertical agreement block exemption regulation, agency models and the future relationship between manufacturers and retailers. We engage with regulators, in particular, the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), via the NFDA’s European partner, AECDR, and the European Commission to outline franchised dealers’ views. We are also working closely with our retained specialist legal advisers, TLT LLP, and leading counsel to assess the possible scenarios affecting the future relationship between franchised dealers and manufacturers.

This year showed encouraging signs for the current climate of the automotive industry, as shown by the NFDA Summer Dealer Attitude Survey. The survey accumulated a response rate of 66%, with a total of 2,561 responses from 32 manufacturers. Franchised dealers show high levels of satisfaction in key business areas, particularly in used car margins and performance measures. The full Summer 2022 Dealer Attitude Survey can be found on the NFDA website here.

The Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) accreditation scheme has had another incredibly successful year, continuing to make advancements towards helping boost the electric vehicle (EV) market. EVA has reached another significant milestone after accrediting 500 retailers. We encourage all EVA members to reach out to us, via Anna.Miskiewicz@RMIF.co.uk, and request your brand-new EVA certificate of accreditation to display in your dealership as well as purchase your Marketing promotion packs to increase consumer awareness.

Drive My Career (DMC) has achieved progressive interaction from young people, visiting our members career pages, and is supported by the data shared in our monthly reports. DMC continues to work hard to fix the skills shortage our industry faces, as well as improving the overall perception of careers in the automotive industry. Drive My Career have established positive relationships and is now looking to update its website so that it generates more traffic from young people, makes featured jobs more accessible, promote featured jobs through popular recruitment sites (Get My First Job, Google Jobs) and producing VIP pages on the website for Members to have their own 'hub' and showcase their businesses..

As the trade association representing franchised dealers in the UK, we must not overlook the vast number of issues currently affecting our members.

We have held well attended and engaging Finance & Insurance, Used Cars, EV, marketing and HR regulatory working groups.

AM Live will provide you with an ideal opportunity to obtain an insight into our activities. The event is a great way to promote advancements in the automotive industry, promising to be just as informative and insightful as previous years’ editions. We look forward to attending AM Live and meeting dealers!
