This week’s new passenger car registrations showed that the new car market declined by -3.4 in March. Year-to-date, sales are down -2.4% from last year to 701,036 units. Positively, the light commercial vehicle sector saw a record growth of 10.6% in March showing clear signs of stability. Please find a copy of the figures here.
The Prime Minister has now written the EU to request a further delay to Brexit until 30 June and has suggested that if UK MPs approve a deal in time, the UK should be able to leave before European Parliamentary elections on 23 May.
Next week, I will be meeting with a number of NFDA’s European counterparts in Brussels to discuss common goals and challenges. NFDA has been calling on
the Government to produce a deal with the EU that protects our sector.
The automotive unit of the Government’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) asked us to share the following survey ( http://bit.ly/2YLKThn ) with you to provide them with an indication of levels of EU Exit knowledge, areas of concern and general preparedness. The deadline to respond to the survey is Thursday 11 April.
