Dear colleague,

This week’s new passenger car registrations showed that the new car market declined by -4.1% in April. Sales of petrol and diesel vehicles decreased, whilst alternative fuel vehicles rose by 6.4% fuelled by the significant growth of the pure electric vehicles segment. Positively, demand for light commercial vehicles remained strong, up 4.7% in April. Download a copy of the registration figures here.

Last week, we mentioned the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) survey which is part of their Cost Benefit Analysis for potential policy changes as a result of their enquiry into motor finance. Following our request for an extension to the deadline to respond to their survey, FCA has confirmed that they will grant a one-week extension, to Friday 24 May. Should you need any assistance with this, please contact us.

Next week, we will officially launch EVA, our new Electric Vehicle Approved scheme. EVA will certify the retailers that meet the retail and aftersales EVA standards developed in consultation with the Government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and the Energy Saving Trust. More details will follow.

Tomorrow, we will be at The Grove for the NFDA Spring Ball 2019, an evening of fun, celebrating the retail automotive industry - We look forward to seeing you there!
