Dear Colleague,
It was announced this week that Parliament will be prorogued on a day between 9 and 12 September. MPs will not sit again until 14 October, which will be the day of the Prime Minister’s first major test in the Commons as he seeks approval for his government’s priorities in a Queen’s speech. Whilst the government has clarified that the five-week suspension will still allow time for MPs to debate the Brexit outcome, franchised retailers must now take very seriously the idea that a ‘no deal’ Brexit is fast approaching. We will monitor this closely over the coming weeks and will continue to update and support members. NFDA has also set up a dedicated Brexit helpdesk should you require any assistance – Brexit@rmif.co.uk.
This week’s saw the UK car manufacturing decline -10.6% in July – the 14th successive month of decline as ongoing weakness in major EU and Asian markets coupled with some key model changes affected performance.
The next round of NFDA regional meetings will start in September. Dealer and manufacturer relationship, new and used car markets, F&I, aftersales and HR issues are on the agenda. Your attendance is vital in setting the direction of our work. Please email nfda@rmif.co.uk to attend your local NFDA regional meeting.
NFDA is organising a dealer trip to NADA Las Vegas 2020. We will be departing on Thursday 13 and returning Monday 17 February 2020. Every year, franchised dealers see NADA as an ideal opportunity to discuss industry issues and learn about new trends facing our industry. Please email nfda@rmif.co.uk to join us.
NFDA is your trade association: we represent, you benefit. If you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our member helpline on 01788 538303.
