
NFDA has partnered with the LowCVP and produced a leaflet to show consumers how to benefit from the new Worldwide Harmonised Light Testing Procedure (WLTP) figures.
The aim of the leaflet is to show consumers that WLTP’s more sophisticated testing techniques and its more accurate emission figures can help motorists choose the right car. In fact, the new fuel economy figures are available for four different types of journey: city centre, town, rural and motorway. Consumers will now be able to compare the emission figures for the type of journey they do the most, see which cars use the least fuel and choose the most fuel-efficient car.
Additionally, the leaflet answers the most common questions about WLTP: why and when it was introduced, the cars it affects as well as the effects on Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) and Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax.
Finally, the leaflet explains where to find cars’ WLTP fuel economy, electricity consumption and electric range figures. This includes environmental labels and sales materials on new cars found at dealerships, manufacturers’ brochures and websites, printed car advertising and marketing, motoring media listings and comparison tables, and the government’s official database.
NFDA will continue to advise motorists to speak to their local car retailer if they have any questions about the new testing procedure and how it may affect them.
