Brexit - Following the MPs’ instructions to seek ‘alternative arrangements’ to the Irish backstop, the Prime Minister obtained agreement from the EU to ‘reopen Brexit talks’. We will be monitoring the final stages of the negotiations and keep you informed. Please find more details in today’s news.
This week, new passenger car figures showed that the market suffered a small decline of -1.6% in January. Positively, sales of alternative fuel vehicles continued to grow substantially, up by 26.3%, and demand from private consumers rose 2.9%. Also, sales of light commercial vehicles grew by an encouraging 8.6%.
HM Treasury is currently undertaking a review of vehicle taxes to assess the impact of the introduction of WLTP. It would highly beneficial to have as many retailer groups’ responses as possible in addition to ours. The consultation can be found here http://bit.ly/2Dlacgl - more details in the news.
On Thursday, Driving Digital 2019 took place at Villa Park in Birmingham. The event provided attendees with an ideal opportunity to network and discuss topical industry’s challenges and opportunities. Top speakers shared with the audience insightful tips and updates on the changes facing our sector with a focus on the digital side of automotive retail.
