Sue Robinson, Director of the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA), which represents franchised car and commercial vehicle retailers in the UK, was named number 31 in this year’s Motor Trader Top 50 Movers & Shakers.

The Motor Trader Top 50 Movers & Shakers identifies ‘those individuals who have influenced the motor retail sector over the past year and are set to make their presence felt over the course of 2019’.

Three NFDA member dealer CEOs made the podium: Daksh Gupta, Marshall, was in third position; Eddie Hawthorne, Arnold Clark, was second; and Darren Edwards, Sytner, was the number one. Sue went up by five positions from the previous list and was the only woman featured this year.

The Top 50 panel included John Kirwan, Editor of Motor Trader; Mike Jones, Chairman of ASE; Karl Davis, Managing Director of Coachworks Consulting; Mike Allen, Head of Research at Zeus Capital; Sue Baker, Business and Consumer Journalist and TV Presenter, and Chris Oakham, Author of the report.

‘It was a busy year for the NFDA under Director Sue Robinson. The trade body was early in the game to spot the problems that WLTP would cause. In 2018, it also published a Plug-In Vehicle Guide for dealers and launched an Electric vehicle Approved (EVA) pilot scheme. It ramped up its lobbying efforts, getting MPs to visiting NFDA dealer members as part of the NFDA Parliamentary Engagement Programme”, Motor Trader says.

Among the key recent successes, the magazine also mentions the evidence that NFDA gave to the Business, Energy and Industrial strategy (BEIS) Committee on the future for electric vehicles and the launch of Drive My Career.
