Dear Colleague,

Having engaged with Government on the issue, NFDA plus a number of franchised dealer members have responded to the consultation on ending the sale of internal combustion engine vehicles by 2035. We have highlighted that strong financial incentives must remain in place to support the EV market, hybrids should be given a later phase out date and retailers will also need support to install necessary charging infrastructure. Please find more details in the news.

The Prime Minister has announced a number of measures to control the spread of coronavirus including tightening the lockdown in areas of Northern England. We will be monitoring the potential effect of these on dealers and keep you updated.

This week, the FCA has confirmed the ban on motor finance discretionary commission models. Positively, in line with NFDA’s requests, they have extended the implementation period from the original three-month to six months. Please find more details in the news.

Over the coming months, as the industry moves forward from the pandemic, we will continue to regularly liaise with our franchised dealer members to address the number of issues affecting the sector such as Brexit, the Block Exemption Regulation as well as any relevant regulatory changes. We will keep you updated.

NFDA is your trade association: if you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our member helpline at 01788 538303. NFDA is the voice of automotive retailers.
