SsangYong Motors UK has confirmed the move of its headquarters from Luton in Bedfordshire to Swindon, Wiltshire.

The new head office will allow the company to move into the next phase of its growth plans, according to boss Kevin Griffin.

‘The move to Swindon allows room for growth of the business and ample room for meetings and collaboration, as SsangYong moves into the next phase of development, including its investment in pure-EV,’ he said.

‘We can also operate our national parts delivery service to our franchised dealers from the same site and be closer to our import centre at the Royal Portbury Docks in Bristol – which was a big consideration for us.’

The move comes at the same time as the company looks for more dealers to join its network.

Last month, Parkhills of Greater Manchester became the latest dealer to join the growing South Korean brand’s portfolio, and SsangYong is looking to fill more open points across the UK from Glasgow to Cambridge.

The announcement of the new HQ comes in the same week as new car registrations figures for July showed SsangYong was outpacing the coronavirus market with sales down just 28.2 per cent, set against heavier declines for rival brands.
