Following the restrictions announced for a number of areas in the UK, we are in regular communication with our members and solicitor partners to provide clarity on the issues affecting dealers. Due to the frequent changes in legislation and the differences across various areas, we continue to encourage members who are seeking advice to contact us.
It is interesting to see that with the new measures introduced across Europe, dealers are allowed to remain open in Germany, while in France aftersales services can continue but the opening of showrooms is less straightforward. It seems that French showrooms can be open for sales staff to take orders (especially online), to arrange delivery of cars and for customers to collect a vehicle, provided that they have an appointment booked ahead of their visit.
The latest ‘Drive My Career Insight’ showed that, as expected, COVID-19 has had a significant impact on young people’s jobs. NFDA and Drive My Career continue to monitor the employment sector to provide tailored support to our members. Thanks to all those who contributed to the recently launched NFDA HR survey, we have received an extremely positive response rate and we will publish our findings next week.
This week, I was saddened to hear about the passing of Tony Lowe, former RMI board member and Committee Member for VBRA, and, more recently, NBRA. Tony was Group Managing Director of Impact Repair Centre, operating in Birmingham and the Midlands. My sincere thoughts and condolences are with Tony’s family and friends.
