Dear Colleague,

Today, new passenger car registration figures showed a decline of -27.4% in November which, considering the lockdown and the additional restrictions across the UK, is a far better performance than the spring lockdown, demonstrating dealers’ resilience and ability to adapt. Registrations of light commercials rose by 8.8% as the closure of showrooms did not impact this market. Please find more details in the news.

This week, we published the results of our new HR survey. Despite the numerous challenges facing businesses, it is encouraging to see that a high percentage of franchised dealers indicated that they are planning to recruit in a number of business areas over the next three months. Please find more details below.

On Wednesday, we will hold a virtual dealer meeting where we will provide an update on Brexit and the latest issues affecting the dealer/manufacturer relationship. We will also discuss the 2030 deadline for the sales of new petrol and diesel cars and our Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) accreditation scheme. On Tuesday, at our Northern Ireland dealer meeting, in addition to the topics above, we will also look at specific issues facing NI dealers such as VAT margins. If you would like to attend, please email nfda@rmif.co.uk.

Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) has now reopened – slots are being allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, please email eva@rmif.co.uk if you are interested in obtaining your EV accreditation.
