Dear Colleague,

COVID-19

This week, Sue Robinson, NFDA, and Mike Hawes, SMMT, sent a joint letter to The Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Rt Hon Alok Sharma MP and Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP urging the Government to ‘keep automotive open’ and exempt from any future non-essential retail restrictions, highlighting that dealerships have been maintaining the highest safety standards in line with the industry guidelines produced earlier this year. After the announcement of additional restrictions coming into effect in Wales and Northern Ireland, please find the latest guidance on our website.

Brexit

As we approach the Brexit deadline, this week’s newsletter features a ‘Get Ready for Brexit’ article including a number of useful links to Government guidance. Meanwhile, we continue to monitor the development of the negotiations - we will keep you updated.

Motor Finance

Following the Motor Finance Review published in 2019 by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), new commission rules will be implemented on 28 January 2021. NFDA has been working closely with dealers to provide regular feedback to the FCA on their proposals. We have recently shared with members detailed dealer guidance on the issue - if you have not received the document or have any questions, please contact us. Further details in the news.

‘The Voice’

Next week, we will publish the winter edition of our quarterly magazine, The Voice. It features updates on our Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) scheme which has recently reopened for dealers, Drive My Career, an exclusive industry interview, as well as the results of our latest HR survey. NFDA members will receive their copy of the magazine next week.

NFDA is the voice of automotive retailers: if you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our member helpline 01788 538303 or email nfda@rmif.co.uk
