Dear Colleague,

Following discussions and correspondence with our members and the relevant Government departments to obtain clarity on the issue, we have received confirmation from the Scottish Government that “outdoor vehicle lots” can remain open for dealers to offer click & collect and delivery of vehicles bought online. Please find further details in the news, including our views and additional legal guidance.

This week, Rt Hon Michael Gove MP confirmed that “HMT and HMRC will reinstate a margin scheme to ensure that NI customers need pay no more than those in any other part of the United Kingdom”. This was extremely positive news and a significant ‘win’ for our industry following NFDA’s lobbying efforts to ensure thousands of second-hand vehicles in Northern Ireland would not face a price increase from 1 January 2021. Please find further details in the news.

A reminder – the changes to the rules on motor finance commissions will come into effect in less than two weeks, 28 January 2021. We have produced detailed dealer guidance on the issue, and we urge members who have not received the document to get in touch to request a copy. If you have any enquiries on this, please contact our dedicated helpline.

NFDA is the voice of automotive retailers: if you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our member helpline at 01788 538303 or email nfda@rmif.co.uk.
