NFDA’s and employment initiative Drive My Career and Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) accreditation scheme are exhibiting at the British Motor Show taking place in Farnborough this weekend.
Since Thursday, the Drive My Career team has been speaking with several young people and their families about starting a career in the automotive industry.
The team is highlighting that while to many, working in the automotive industry means either fixing or selling cars (and although the industry offers fantastic opportunities for people with these skillsets), there are a lot of other career avenues the automotive sector offers.
DMC is engaging with young people to prove that whether they are interested in starting a technician role, customer service, or marketing – there is a career path for them. The team is helping young people familiarise with these options, show the opportunities available and connect potential candidates with their nearest automotive retailer, giving demonstrations of how to use the resources available.
The team is sharing the guidance and answering any questions people may have about working in automotive, helping job seekers find the business area that best suits their skills and interests, and identifying the retailers looking for candidates in specific areas. Also, Gabriele Severini, Drive My Career’s Communications Manager is joining the IMI and School of Thought on stage in Hall 1 to discuss careers in automotive every morning at 10.20.
There are also games and competitions with prizes every day. Following the success of the first competition, the Original Nintendo Mario Kart videogame race is back!

The Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) team is also at the show to answer questions about EVs, give impartial advice on switching to an Electric Vehicle and explain why EVA accredited retailers represent the excellence in the sector and are able to give their customers confidence in their purchase.
The team has been explaining that by visiting an EVA accredited dealer, customers can be assured that you will receive a welcoming atmosphere built around the EV culture, exceptional levels of product knowledge, EV trained and accredited technicians, on site chargers, EV courtesy cars and more!
EVA is in Hall 5, stand R46
