What Car? has revealed the winners of this year’s Used Car Awards, with the Peugeot 5008 SUV (2017 – present) named as 2021 Used Car of the Year.
This year, winners were picked across 17 categories, with a winner and two runners-up named in each. The categories were judged by a panel of experts, who considered every car’s all-round ability, reliability, value and the availability of desirable versions, and then chose the outstanding cars in that category.
The Peugeot 5008 was praised for its spacious and classy interior, as well as for its impressive overall refinement and great value. Combining those attributes with a strong line-up of efficient engines, the Peugeot 5008 won the top prize in the Used Large SUV of the Year category before going on to secure the overall title. This year’s What Car? Used Car of the Year Awards also proved successful for BMW, which came top in four categories; the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé was named Used Coupé/Convertible Car of the Year, the 530e Used Hybrid Car of the Year, the 5 Series Used Luxury Car of the Year and the i8 Used Sports Car of the Year. Audi and Skoda were the next most successful manufacturers with three victories each. Audi carried off Used Family Car of the Year with the Audi A3 Sportback (former overall Used Car of the Year winner), as well as securing the Used Luxury SUV title with the Q7, and Used Executive Car of the Year with the A4. Skoda took Used Small Car of the Year with the Fabia, Used Family SUV for the Karoq, and Used Estate Car of the Year with the Octavia Estate.
