NFDA has met with officials from the Department for Transport (DfT) and Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to discuss the important role played by franchised dealers in creating and promoting ‘green jobs’.

In summer, NFDA wrote to the Secretary of State for BEIS, Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP, welcoming his comments on the importance of electric vehicle technicians.

Following the letter, NFDA met with DfT and BEIS officials from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), including Abdul Chowdhury, Head of innovation & Industrial Capability at OZEV.

The meeting generated a number of constructive outcomes, in particular, regarding the role of franchised dealers in promoting green jobs.

Government officials showed significant receptiveness towards the work that NFDA and its members have been doing to promote Electric Vehicles within the automotive industry and indicated a level of synergy between the NFDA and OZEV going forward.

NFDA will continue to engage with the Government on this issue and we will keep our members updated.
