The DVSA has started discovery work with their digital partners ‘Kainos’ around safety recalls to better inform owners of outstanding safety recalls on their vehicles and, in turn, improve rectification rates.
DVSA has mapped out some broad ideas and are engaging several stakeholders, including NFDA.
The discovery work is looking at a number of ideas of how DVSA can use the data.
An option considered is to display recall information via MOT on the MOT Testing Service, MOT certificates and MOT History.
This could be:
- via a screen prompt at log in/off to the tester to pass information on
- displayed as an advisory on the test certificate and MOT history
- dealt with as a failure item (in the future).
NFDA has already provided feedback on behalf of dealers and will be liaising further with DVSA gong forward.
