Dear Colleague,

This morning I met with our Counterpart, the Australian Automotive Dealer Association (AADA). James Voortman, AADA CEO, David Blackall, the new AADA Chairman, and Brian Savage, AADA COO, attended the meeting. Discussions centred around the agency agreement and their current strategy. It proved extremely helpful and, certainly, an ongoing sharing of views will be valuable.

Following continued lobbying efforts via our NFDA Northern Ireland Division, this week, we received a letter from Rt Hon Lucy Frazer Qc MP, Minister responsible for the UK tax system, clarifying the VAT treatment of second-hand cars in Northern Ireland. Despite the confusion that followed the Budget, the Government has confirmed dealers can rely on the HMRC guidance published on 14 January 2021. You can find more information in the news.

A reminder: our Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) scheme is now open. With more than 350 applications in total and 248 accredited retailers, EVA continues to grow. If you would like to apply to receive your accreditation, email eva@rmif.co.uk. If you are already ‘EV Approved’, we have prepared a promotional pack to help you publicise your EVA status, please get in touch if you have not received it yet.

NFDA is the voice of automotive retailers: if you require any assistance or would like to discuss anything with us, please do not hesitate to contact our member helpline on 01788 538303 or email lena.patel@rmif.co.uk.
