Dear Colleague,

David Newman (NFDA Chair) and myself have attended the 2022 NADA convention in Las Vegas. It was a ‘full house’ with dealers from across the US and a number from the UK and other parts of the world. Meeting with NFDA counterparts was extremely interesting as the past two years saw all meetings on Zoom! Which really is no substitute for a face-to-face discussion. We are all sharing similar issues regarding the future of retailing and the development of EVs. Also, on a lighter note, was a trip on the LVCC Loop System (Elon Musk’s Las Vegas loop) across the two convention halls. The larger loop system is planned to comprise 51 stations and around 29 miles of tunnels linking many of the city’s tourist sites. Please find more details about our visit to NADA in the news.

This week, the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles announced that the Plug-in Van and Truck Grant will be extended and the weight threshold for electric vans between 3.5 and 4.25 tonnes will change. The extension is positive news as it means van buyers will have access to the grants for an additional two years, until 2024/25. Please find more details below.

The Government has also launched an important consultation on the introduction of a new Online Sales Tax to rebalance the impact that business rates have on brick-and-mortar stores. NFDA will respond to the consultation and we will hold a Teams call to coordinate our members’ views. If you would like to join, please email lena.patel@rmif.co.uk.

Last chance to secure your place at the NFDA Spring Ball! We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday 2 April 2022 at The Grove, we have very few seats left. For more information, please visit here.
