Dear Colleagues,

This week I attended the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham, also attending the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool the week prior. Both events were very different, with the Tory conference offering a lot more media activity speculation and theatre. I attended the Chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng’s, speech… and bizarrely made an unintended TV appearance of my own! NFDA will be providing a full briefing of the conferences in the next newsletter edition, including the relevant meetings and discussions over the two weeks.

The SMMT figures were also released this week, which has reported the second consecutive month of growth in new car sales. This increase is a positive for the industry, particularly given the closure of dealerships due to the Queen’s funeral and consumer uncertainty before the UK Government’s Energy Bill Relief Scheme.

Finally, we have begun preparations for the NFDA trip to NADA Show 2023, which will be taking place in Dallas, Texas early next year. The NADA show offers the perfect networking opportunity with your automotive peers and a chance to attend world-class speakers and events, all whilst having an interesting time in Texas! You will find enclosed in this edition of the newsletter a breakdown of the NFDA package. Please get in contact to place your bookings.
