JCT600 chief executive John Tordoff has set himself the challenge of trekking to Everest base camp after emergency surgery forced him to miss Ben’s charity climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Tordoff told AM that he has “unfinished business” after three years of preparations to be one of 15 automotive leaders to trek to the summit of Africa’s highest peak came to a dramatic end with an emergency trip to hospital last month.

The 59-year-old, who also underwent heart surgery in 2020, told AM that he felt “as fit as ever” just weeks ahead of the Africa trip which took place 10 days ago, but was forced to withdraw on medical grounds after being struck down with crippling abdominal pains.

Vertu Motors has appointed Kevin Hardie as its new divisional aftersales director for the Ford South division.

Hardie started in the motor retail trade as a parts adviser at the age of 18. He has worked for Audi UK and BMW UK, as well as gaining brand accreditations.

Before joining Vertu Motors plc, Kevin was an aftersales director Inchcape.

TrustFord has donated to various food banks throughout the UK after sites became food bank donation hubs throughout November.

As part of its ‘Fill Your Boots’ campaign, the dealer group invited colleagues and customers to donate non-perishable items to help and support people in need, along with those who have been heavily impacted by the cost-of-living crisis.

Among the food banks that received help was Newtownabbey Foodbank in Northern Ireland, which has seen an increase in people needing crisis food.

Other food banks that received help included Bradford Central Food Bank, Hope Family Trust (Dagenham), Lisburn Foodbank, St Vincent De Paul (Craigavon), Women’s Aid (Coleraine), Stockport Food Bank, Stanwell Food Bank (Staines) and The Welcome Centre (Huddersfield).

Hedin Group withdraws offer to buy Pendragon – CAR DEALER MAGAZINE

Hedin Group has withdrawn its offer to buy car dealer group Pendragon due to ‘challenging market conditions’.

Making the announcement this morning (Dec 9) on the London Stock Exchange, the Swedish firm said a risky economic picture had led it to pull out from making a final offer.

‘Given the challenging market conditions and uncertain economic outlook, Hedin confirms that it does not intend to make an offer for Pendragon,’ the statement said.

On September 26, Hedin Group has made a preliminary and conditional cash offer for Pendragon at 29p per share.
