CLEAN AIR ZONES (CAZs) UPDATE

The Joint Air Quality Unit (JAQU) has issued an update on the latest progress for Clean Air Zones (CAZs).

Bristol

Bristol was added to the Government’s vehicle checker on Monday 14^th February. You can check the ‘Drive in a clean air zone’ page to find out if you will be charged. General information on the planned Clean Air Zone can be found at Clean Air For Bristol.

Bradford

The lead in period for the Clean Air Zone (CAZ) has been extended. Instead of being introduced in January (as originally planned), the Bradford CAZ is expected to be launched later in 2022. This will allow businesses more time to use the Clean Air Funding available and upgrade their vehicles

Bradford was added to the Government’s vehicle checker on Monday 15^th November.

Greater Manchester

Earlier this month, the Government granted permission to Greater Manchester Authorities to delay the implementation of their Clean Air Zone. Portsmouth

Portsmouth’s Class B CAZ has been live since 29 November 2021. Non-compliant vehicles driven in Portsmouth are now subject to charge.

Details of compliance requirements and exemptions can be found here. Operators of vehicles which are eligible for an exemption are urged to apply as soon as possible.
