US Group Lithia Acquires Jardine Motors Group

Lithia & Driveway has bought Jardine Motors Group from Jardine Matheson.

The acquisition represents the US Group’s first entry into the UK.

Jardine management will remain in place and Lithia has said that employees will not be negatively impacted by the transaction.

The group is expected to generate over $2 billion in annual revenue.

Pendragon Opens BYD Dealerships Under Stratstone Brand

Pendragon has been confirmed as the UK “leading launch partner” of BYD (Build Your Dreams), in tandem with the release of its ATTO 3 model this week.

Pendragon will open the first of its BYD sites in Birmingham and Milton Keynes on today (15 March), under its premium Stratstone retail brand.

The dealerships will be Pendragon’s debut entirely EV showrooms.

TrustFord opens refurbished PartsPlus site in Thurrock

TrustFord has opened a newly refurbished PartsPlus Centre and Aftersales Contact Centre in Thurrock, following an investment of £1.2 million in the site.

The PartsPlus Centre supports the sale of trade parts directly to franchise groups, independent repairers, and body shops. The redevelopment includes a new mezzanine floor, additional storage racking to increase the warehouse storage capacity, a new conveyor belt which will reduce manual handling and improvements to the building’s façade, including LED Lighting.

Arnold Clark’s Margaret Speirs awarded Freddie Aldous Outstanding Contribution Award

Margaret Speirs, group rental director at Arnold Clark, has been awarded the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association’s (BVRLA) Freddie Aldous Outstanding Contribution Award.

Speirs was recognised for her commitment to the association and its activities at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

Bestowed in memory of the BVRLA Honorary life president who passed away in 2017, the Freddie Aldous Outstanding Contribution Award is presented to an individual that has played a vital and long-term role in supporting the work of the BVRLA. It recognises the people that drive the industry forward.

Lawyers suspect Arnold Clark hackers have now leaked 45GB of personal data on dark web

Lawyers assisting victims of the recent Arnold Clark cyber hack believe that an additional 30GB of personal data has been leaked on the dark web.

Car Dealer reported earlier this year that 15GB of data belonging to the dealer group’s customers had been posted online by a gang of criminal hackers.

Keller Postman – a top firm of London lawyers – has since launched a ‘no-win, no-fee’ scheme to help victims of the recent breach claim compensation.

Cambria’s Mark Lavery: There will be no publicly listed dealer groups by the end of the year

Cambria Automobiles boss Mark Lavery says he does not believe there will be any publicly listed dealer groups in the UK by the end of the year.

In a wide ranging interview at last week’s Car Dealer Live conference he backed the likes of Vertu, Lookers and Pendragon to follow his firm into private ownership.

Lavery told interviewer James Baggott that profitable UK dealer groups represented ‘extraordinary value’ to investors.

Third Senior Marshall Motor Group Director Quits Car Dealer Group Since Takeover

Marshall Motor Group has lost its third senior director in just nine months following the takeover of the business by Constellation Automotive Group.

Stephen Jones, the company’s group counsel and company secretary, left the business on Friday (March 10).

A filing with Companies House shows his directorship was terminated this week.
