Dear Colleagues,

The Chancellor of Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, recently unveiled his plans to impose a ZEV mandate which will require manufacturers to produce a minimum percentage of zero emissions car and vans from 2024. Next week, NFDA will share a briefing paper highlighting what this will potentially mean for franchised retailers.

In addition to this, we have gathered a range of insights and data relating to the wider automotive retailing sector. A report from Zeus, a leading financial services group, has highlighted data concerning new car volumes and how they are improving in 2023, used car residual values, consumer spending habits and inflation, the impact of increasing interest rates and more. From Auto Trader, we have included their Monthly Market Intelligence report for March.

Finally, I am delighted to announce that NFDA’s quarterly magazine, The Voice Spring Edition is out now! Within this copy you will find a recap of what your trade association has been working on since the beginning of the year, including a summary of our Dealer Attitude Survey and our MOT Consultation survey and response, as well as an exclusive interview with Jason Cranswick, Chief Operating Officer of Marubeni Auto Investments.
