The UK Government’s final consultation for the proposed Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Mandate has now closed, and the NFDA has submitted its response on behalf of automotive retailers. In our consultation response NFDA explores all avenues proposed by Government and whilst NFDA supports the proposal, we have urged government to listen to the industry’s trade body to understand the full range of factors and implications it will have for the retailing sector and make the necessary alterations. We will remain in dialogue with the relevant parties in Government throughout the consultation process and will inform members once we have received a response.
Also, this week, the Department for Transport issued its place holder response for our "do not extend the period before a vehicle's first MOT to 4 years" petition launched in March. The petition has now reached over 10,000 signatures. You can find Government’s initial response enclosed in today’s newsletter and I encourage you to sign the petition if you have not done so already. Sign the petition HERE.
Finally, we are pleased to announce that NFDA’s Future of Automotive Retailing briefing is returning to the British Motor Show on Thursday 17 August 2023! Registrations are now open and it is free to attend for NFDA members, attending the briefing will also give you free admittance and parking for the British Motor Show. With the ongoing developments in automotive retailing, we have pulled together a number of speakers on the most pertinent subjects to provide both updates and discussions on key topics. To register, please contact email@example.com.
