Waylands Swindon opens new showroom on Great Western Way

Waylands Swindon has opened a new five-million-pound showroom on Great Western Way.

The event was hosted by TV Presenter and radio personality, Claudia Winkleman.

Customers were treated to an evening of Scandinavian mocktails and canapes and live entertainment from musician Cat Delphi.

Also taking centre stage, were Waylands CEO, John O’Hanlon and Volvo Car UK managing director, Kristian Elvefors.

Caffyns sees profits dip by £1.2 million as high costs and inflation take hold

Inflation and higher business rates resulted in profits falling for Caffyns last year.

The East Sussex-based business saw underlying profit before tax slump from £4.3m in FY22 to £3.1m FY23, preliminary results for the year ended March 31, 2023 published today (Jun 2) on the London Stock Exchange show.

In the accounts, the dealer group – which has showrooms across Sussex and Kent and represents Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Vauxhall, Volvo, MG and Lotus – said ‘profitability was constrained by significant upward cost pressures in areas such as business rates and funding and other overhead costs in an inflationary environment’.

Arnold Clark severs links with This Morning in wake of Schofield scandal

Arnold Clark won’t be renewing its sponsorship of This Morning following the Phillip Schofield scandal.

The UK’s most profitable car dealership, which began a multi-year deal with the ITV show in September 2021 as its main sponsor, has issued a short statement saying: ‘Our existing sponsorship of This Morning will end this autumn as planned.’

It comes in the wake of used car firm WeBuyAnyCar dropping all adverts featuring the presenter from its YouTube channel.

Bristol Street Motors supports Sunderland AFC’s Foundation of Light

Bristol Street Motors is working alongside Sunderland AFC’s Foundation of Light to help girls to set career goals.

It has donated £10,000 to support its World of Work skills programme.

As part of the collaboration, women working at Bristol Street Motors visited the Beacon of Light to speak to girls taking part in the World of Work programme, to highlight opportunities in the motor trade and explain their own career trajectory. This included colleagues in senior positions working at Bristol Street Motors’ head office in Gateshead, as well as apprentices who are just beginning their careers.
