Dear Colleague,

This week, the House of Lords Committee launched a Call for Evidence into Electric Vehicles (EVs). This inquiry seeks to unravel how the Government plans to meet its upcoming 2030 and 2035 deadlines for phasing out non-zero emission vehicles. NFDA will be responding to this Call for Evidence, emphasizing the substantial investments our members have dedicated to the transition toward electric and urging governmental support.

Also included in the newsletter is an update on our activities in Northern Ireland. We have responded to a consultation from The Department of Agriculture, Environment, and Rural Affairs (DAERA), where we emphasize the role of EVs in Northern Ireland's emission reduction efforts. We have also highlighted the need for a comprehensive MOT emissions test.

Next week, we will be heading to Farnborough to take part in The British Motor Show 2023. On Thursday 17 August, NFDA will be hosting the “Future of Automotive Retailing”, a strategic look at industry trends with an excellent panel of speakers. With limited spots available, secure your attendance by registering at Lena.Patel@rmif.co.uk.

This week, we announced our new social media campaign #chooseautomotive. With A-Level and GCSE results day next week, through our employment initiative Drive My Career we will highlight the diverse and rewarding career avenues within the dynamic automotive sector. We encourage our members to participate by sharing their own videos explaining their decision to pursue a career in the automotive industry. More details on the campaign and how to get involved can be found in today’s newsletter.

Finally, I am pleased to announce the registration is now open for the NFDA Study Tour to the 2024 NADA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from 31 January – 4 February 2023. This year's theme will be "Driving the Future". Please refer to this week's newsletter for details on booking.
