Dear colleagues,

The NFDA Dealer Attitude Survey – Summer 2023 edition will be released next Monday 9 October 2023. This is a landmark edition working with our new data-analyst partners, Metryx, to reshape and redesign how the sector can interact with the data, offering a fresh new look for easy access and analysis. The Dealer Attitude Survey has been exploring the working relationships between dealers and manufacturers twice a year since 1989, this new edition provides a unique opportunity to look more closely at the dynamics between the two parties.

In this edition of NFDA news, we have shared the latest update from the Alliance of European Car Dealers and Repairers (AECDR), taking a dive into European markets and regulations. Included in this update is a factsheet examining the trade flow between the EU and China, with a particular focus toward battery electric vehicles. This is extremely relevant to the UK market, with new entrants on the horizon. You can join us on the 6 December at The Lord’s Cricket Ground to meet the new manufacturers that are seeking to enter the UK market in the near future, as well as look at their product first hand. This is an opportunity to develop new business relationships with these manufacturers. Your FREE registration link as an NFDA Member can be found below.

Finally, this week we received the latest SMMT figures for the all-important plate change month of September. A total of 272,610 new cars were registered, an increase of 21% from the same period last year. Sales to private buyers, however, only increased by 5.8%, with the majority of sales coming from business and fleet. With the recent changes to EV policy, the UK Government must provide more clarity on their long term plan to achieving 2035 targets, offering attractive price incentives to encourage consumers to make the necessary switch to electric if we do not want EV adoption from private motorists to lose more momentum.
