This week, for National Apprenticeship Week Drive My Career and its members have taken part in its fifth consecutive #DMCApprenticeTakeover campaign - – a social media campaign designed to celebrate apprentices within the industry and highlight the careers and opportunities franchised dealers offer to young people.

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, DMC has been reposting member’s success stories, celebrating diversity and inclusion within the industry to help change perceptions, as well as offering advice and tips for job seekers looking to embark on their career.

We want to thank all the members who took part in our initiative and used the hashtags #DMCApprenticeTakeover and #NAW2023.

Below you will find a snapshot of some of our members who participated:

JCT600

JCT600 posted many apprenticeship stories during the week.

Emma Winder, Apprentice Technician from the Volkswagen Sheffield dealership chose to undertake an apprenticeship because of the benefits of being able to earn while learning and because of the job opportunities available upon completion of her course.

Three of JCT600’a apprentices went to Bradford College to take part in the Bradford Apprenticeship Games. The day consisted of a variety of challenges and Team JCT600 were crowned 3rd place! Congratulations!

JCT600 also shared also shared the ‘AM News Show’ podcast, an episode which featured JCT600 Apprentices and the Drive My career team, where we discussed the reality of a key route into the industry for the next generation of automotive. Watch it HERE.

TRUSTFORD

This week, TrustFord’s members visited Cotham School to chat with year 9 & 10 students about their Apprenticeship scheme and what it’s like working in the Automotive industry.

They also decided to highlight the importance of diversity in the industry by bringing Niamh Hart’s, Apprentice Panel Beater at Knockmore and Amber Matthews, Apprentice Fleet Sales Administrator, testimonials.

Traditionally panel beating is known to be a male dominated job, but TrustFord is very active in encouraging more young women and to consider a career in the motor industry", said Niamh.

TruckEast

Our newest DMC’s member, TruckEast, was very active during the week. It was great to learn more about David, Bradley, Chris and all the other apprentices’ experiences at TruckEast. We wish good luck to all the fabulous young apprentices who are doing a great job already!

Caffyns

We want also to thank Caffyns who decided to take part as a NFDA member. Great to support Dan, Jack, Jamie and Will's inspiring stories!

About his experience as a Volvo Master Technician Jamie said: “There is no better way to learn that trough a main dealership. The automotive industry is constantly changing, especially with electric vehicles so starting an apprenticeship at Caffyns means you will always be given the right training”.

We encourage members to keep getting involved during the remainder of the weekend using the hashtags #DMCApprenticeTakeove and #NAW2023.

Drive My Career is the employment platform launched by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) in February 2018 to make the motor retail sector more attractive to young jobseekers and connect potential candidates with their local retailers.
