Dear Colleagues,

This week, NFDA responded to the Department for Business and Trade’s (DBT’s) consultation on the draft Motor Vehicle Agreements Block Exemption Order 2023 (MVBEO). We commented on a range of issues regarding competition in the automotive sector, highlighting and making reference to market trends, the possible implications of future sales models and made specific recommendations to be incorporated in the MVBEO guidelines. A separate consultation on the more detailed and informative Guidelines that will accompany the MVBEO will follow in due course and the NFDA will also respond accordingly.

Wednesday marked National new registration plate day, where the newest ’23 plates reached dealers forecourts. The day received a lot of media attention.

Today’s news also includes information on Ireland and European car sales.

Next Wednesday 8 March is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate diversity and inclusion in the workplace, specifically regarding gender. Recently I joined the Automotive 30% Club and, as a result, would like to publicly promote their event that will be taking place on Wednesday. Please see in this edition of the news full details regarding their event, and NFDA encourages all franchised dealer members to support International Women’s Day by endorsing their female employees online and inspire the next generation of workforce to be diverse.
