As of 1 October 2022, Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) will be launching a pilot scheme for Auctions, demonstrating their commitment, knowledge, and facilities in wholesaling electric vehicles.
“It is extremely positive to see that EVA expanding into another sector within the automotive industry, typifying the efforts and investments automotive wholesalers and retailers are making towards supporting the decarbonisation of transport and reaching government’s net-zero targets,” said Sue Robinson, Chief Executive of the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA), which represents franchised car and commercial vehicle retailers in the UK.
The EVA accreditation scheme launched in 2019 encourages the sector to enhance their expertise in electric vehicles and support consumer confidence as the market moves towards EVs. It is endorsed and subsidised by the Government’s Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) and is independently audited by Energy Saving Trust.
The EVA scheme for motor retailers has grown over the years to now amassing over 400 EVA accredited sites spread across the UK and, while there are many more dealers in the pipeline to be approved, there are still spaces available.
Following the increasing success of the scheme, EVA has launched a new Pilot Group, specifically for auctions. Five NAMA members have agreed to pilot the scheme:
- CD Auctions / Cazoo Wholesale
- Wilson Auctions
- Shoreham Vehicle Auctions
- Fleet Auction Group
- Central Car Auctions
Paul Hill, NAMA Spokesperson, added: “Auctioneers have been putting a great deal of time and investment into preparing their businesses for the electric revolution, which is undoubtably shaping up to be the future of automotive retail.
NAMA represents all auction companies of all sizes selling cars, commercial vehicles and plant in the UK, and we are delighted that five NAMA members will be piloting the EVA scheme for our sector.”
