The National Franchised Dealers Association which represents commercial vehicle and franchised car retailers across the UK, commented on the commercial vehicle new registration figures for March today.

Sue Robinson, Director of the NFDA, comments, “The figures show a continuous growth in the UK commercial vehicle market as registrations have grown for the third consecutive month to 25.3% overall".

All sectors of the van market performed well with heavy models 2.5 to 3.5 tonne showing a healthy increase of 28.8% with over 34,000 van registrations in March. The consistent growth of 22.3% year to date shows real confidence in the economy and an increase in the service industry.

Robinson continues: ”HGV truck sales were up in March by 45.7% overall. Multi axled rigid trucks over 16 tonnes showed a healthy growth of 99.4% in the month. These trucks are often used for construction and civil engineering projects due to the improvement in the economy. Yet again tractor sales increased 65.6%, which improved registrations in this sector from 1505 last year up to 2492 for 2015. Year to date tractor sales have recorded a healthy increase of 69.1%".
