Dear Colleagues,

Last week, NFDA-NI hosted a roundtable dinner in Belfast, where we delved into the persisting challenges concerning Northern Ireland's MOT regime and the significant backlogNFDA has called for the pressing need for collaboration with Stormont to urgently address these issues.

This week, we received figures from Europe indicating a -5.2% contraction in new car registrations. Electric vehicle sales witnessed a significant decline, which is disappointing, especially given the recent passage of the Euro 7 bill by the EU Parliament.

Today, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has outlined plans for a significant reform of the UK's welfare system, contingent upon the outcome of the general election. For a detailed summary of his speech, please refer to today’s news updates.

Next weekend, I look forward to welcoming members to our annual Spring Ball at The Grove Hotel on Saturday, 27April. With just a few tickets remaining, please contact Lena.Patel@rmif.co.uk if you'd like to attend. Additionally, I'd like to remind you of the Driving Digital conference scheduled for 2 May in Westminster. While tickets for non-members and associate members are sold out, spaces are still available for Franchised Dealer NFDA members. Please register for your free tickets as spaces are limited. Find more info in the news.

Lastly, it is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Lord Rosser, former Chair of the Labour Party. On behalf of NFDA, I extend sincere condolences to his family. Lord Rosser has been a valuable supporter of NFDA, contributing to various issues such as dealers' ongoing COVID-19 recovery, the phase-out of new ICE vehicles, and addressing supply chain shortages.
