“Dealers are quite satisfied with the quality of their manufacturers training, however they are expressing a level of concern regarding its cost” said Sue Robinson, Director of the National Franchised Dealers Association, commenting on the recent results of the NFDA Winter 2016 Dealer Attitude Survey.
The question “how satisfied are you with the quality of your manufacturer’s training” returned an average score of 6.9 showing that dealers are fairly satisfied with the quality of training their manufacturers provide. However, the trend of these results, has shown a repeated decline since summer 2014, which raises concerns.
- The score is down 0.1 points since the summer 2015 survey and down 0.2 points on the survey this time last year.
- Lexus, Kia and BMW were recorded as the top 4 franchises scoring respectively 8.6, 8.5 and 8.1.
- The lowest scoring franchises were Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat scoring 5.2, 5.3 and 5.8 respectively.
When dealers were asked ‘how satisfied are you with the cost of your manufacturer training’, the average score for the winter 2016 survey was 5.7.
- The score is 0.3 points lower than summer 2015 and down 0.4 points since last winter. These figures show a quite sharp decline especially over the past six months.
- The highest scoring networks were Mercedes, Lexus, Kia and Suzuki scoring 8.1, 7.8, 7.6 and 7.6 respectively. It clearly shows that these manufacturers are moderately happy with the cost of their training scheme.
- The lowest scoring franchises were Ford, Vauxhall, Toyota and Hyundai scoring 4.1, 4.4, 4.5 and 4.5 respectively.
Sue Robinson concluded, “In spite of a slight decline, franchises seem to be fairly content with the quality of the training from their manufacturers. However, they seem to be more concerned about the cost of trainings and they are asking their manufacturers to address this issue.”
