Tom Tugendhat MP visited Humphries & Parks Mitsubishi in West Malling under the NFDA Parliamentary Engagement Programme on Friday 12 July.

The National Franchised Dealer Association (NFDA), which represents franchised car and commercial vehicle retailers in the UK, launched the programme in 2017 to raise awareness of the retail side of the automotive industry. Over the past two years, many MPs and parliamentarians have met with franchised retailers in their constituencies.

Tom Tugendhat MP for Tonbridge and Malling met with Humphries & Parks Managing Director Marcus Joy and NFDA Director Sue Robinson. The key themes of discussion included dealer investment levels, relationships between dealers and manufacturers, the need for Government to provide clarity on the Brexit process as well as business issues in the local area.

Sue Robinson, NFDA Director, commented, “It is encouraging to see the increasing levels of engagement between MPs and the automotive retail industry. Our franchised retailer members make significant contributions to the local and national economy and it is vital that their efforts are acknowledged.

“The visit provided an ideal opportunity to discuss key issues affecting the automotive sector and highlight the current uncertainty caused by Brexit. The sector needs clarity to ensure that its stability is not undermined.

“We look forward to continuing to develop this programme allowing franchised retailers to engage with their local MPs and parliamentarians."
