Dear Colleague,

Tomorrow is the day! We look forward to welcoming many of you to The Grove as the NFDA Spring Ball makes a comeback. With franchised dealers, manufacturers and automotive stakeholders coming together to celebrate the excellence of the automotive industry, Mark Durden-Smith as our host and Ed Balls as the guest speaker, this year’s Spring Ball promises to be a great event. If you have any questions, please contact lena.patel@rmif.co.uk.

Following the European Commission’s publication of its ‘Fit for 55’ package aiming to review pieces of EU legislation that will impact the automotive sector, the Alliance of European Car Dealers and Repairers (AECDR) has published its Position Paper. AECDR is calling for an ‘ambitious and realistic approach’ to the transition towards climate-neutral mobility in Europe and has included in its paper a number of recommendations for EU policymakers. Please find full details in the news.

HMRC has published guidance on the second-hand motor vehicle export refund scheme. The guidance covers the new scheme to claim a VAT refund if you buy second-hand motor vehicles in Great Britain and move them to Northern Ireland or the EU for resale. The Government intends to introduce the new scheme on 1 October 2022. Please find further information in the newsletter.

NFDA is the voice of automotive retailers: if you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our member helpline at 01788 538303 or email nfda@rmif.co.uk.
